Should Samsø have its own biogas plant?

Creating a sustainable, eco-friendly solution for transport on, and not least, to and from Samsø, is a crucial element in the vision: Fossil free Island in 2030.

Samsø municipality, Samsø Energy Academy and a number of other partners organised a start-up meeting on September 4-5, 2014 with the objective to identify the possibilities of establishing a biogas plant on Samsø.

Is it possible that the new ferry could run on biogas from a local plant? And could large overland transport on Samsø run on biogas now or in the near future?
